Week 2
This week went fairly smoothly I think, I spent my
3D module just really getting up to speed with practicing my unwrapping
and laying out UV map skills, by practicing with a given pre made mesh
and texture sheet were I had to unwrap the sword and make them fit precisely to
the pre made texture sheet. I feel that I completed the task completely and
liked the practice it gave, ready for briefs where we do those ourselves.
For my life drawing module I spent some time
doing some extremely quick warm up poses using my left/less dominant hand, the
blind contouring method and crating the figure using negative shapes. I then
moved on to practicing proportions by using the pencil measuring technique
which is to stand straight hold up your pencil straight at arm’s length and to
measure the head and then continue that throughout the body and lightly
transferring the measurements onto to paper and then drawing the lines to make
up the figure. The technique really helps but I still need more practice
with it I think as some didn't turn out so well.
For my critical studies module I was told that that
next week we were to perform a presentation, on my favorite character as we
were given a lecture on the small basics of what made a character design, good,
believable, iconic and remembered. I initially felt pretty nervous and no at
all confident on giving a presentation but then the excitement of being
able to do it on something I'm really interested in helped out some of the
nerves but I also realized how I'm going to have to get used to doing them in
the industry and that it's pretty much a given that I'll have to do them, so I
thought, I may as well get used to the idea aright now, I still haven't really
thought about who I'm going to do my presentation on as the are many options
but I'm already preparing myself and my level of confidence for wen I do have
to give their presentation next week.
